As part of the 'Take One Picture Project' year 6 visited the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle on Friday 26th January 2007.
Jed Grimes guided the children around the gallery, focusing on use of colour and light in various original paintings, before discussing 'The Bard' by John Martin, a nineteenth century artist from Haydon Bridge.
The children heard how the painting depicts the last surviving bard, cursing King Edward l before he hurls himself from the rocks to his death, and illustrates a poem by the same name.
Everyone enjoying the visit and were disappointed when it came to an end.
