Visit to Segedunum

Year 5 visited the Land of the Pharaohs exhibition at Segedunum as part of their history topic. They where able to see some 2,500 year old mummies - one was even out it's bandages! They also looked at artefacts from Ancient Egypt. They then travelled back in time to meet Aneski an Egyptian farmer. She told them about her life and was surprised to learn how different it was to theirs. Just as they were about to take part in a ceremony to worship the Sun God they were interrupted by Shepenwepet, the High Priestess of Amun- Ra who told them stories about the Sun God.

The children were very inquisitive about Aneski life.

As well as finding out lots more about Ancient Egypt the children also had the opportunity to view the Roman parts of the museum and investigate the remains of the Roman Fort.
