BBC 'Off by Heart' Poem Competition

On Thursday 5th February Chloe Herring and Mrs Wearmouth went to Houghton Le Spring Library as Chloe had been chosen to represent the school in the BBC 'Off by Heart' Poem Competition. Chloe recited the poem 'Matilda' to three judges while the rest of the children waited for their turn. Chloe also had the opportunity to play on the computer while she waited for the judges to make their decision. The judges were really please with the 12 contestants who represented various schools around the North East area. The eventual winner was Georgina who read The Pig. If you want to catch a glimpse of Chloe reciting her poem the programme Off by Heart will be on BBC2 later on in the year.

Well done Chloe we are so proud of you!
