Year 3/4 and Year 5 visited Heworth City Learning Centre to work on the latest ICT technology. Year 3/4 had great fun exploring digital music, they began by creating a short film about an action hero called Jonni Star. They went on to compose the soundtrack and lyrics for the film as well as selecting different sound effects to add to it using a software program called Garage Band.

Year 5 had the opportunity to learn how to program robotic devices using Lego Nxt Mindstorm software. They worked alongside Mr McKenna throughout the day learning how to build instructions into programs using a light sensor, ultrasonic sensor and a sound sensor. These sensors enabled the robots to carry out routines and manoeuvres, such as, following a black line, reversing to avoid an obstacle and changing direction in response to a sound.
