Tyneside Day

We celebrated living in Gateshead and the North East this week by holding a 'Tyneside Day'. Children took part in lots of different workshops all about Tyneside. Margaret a local resident came into school and talked to the children about what it was like to live along the Tyne in the past. The children learnt about what trade was like along the river and what famous landmarks could be seen. Mrs Kitson sang songs liked to the North East with the children and they got the opportunity to play some musical instruments as they sang. Children took part in a Music Workshop with Mr Treherne where they leant some popular Tyneside songs such as The Blaydon Races and the Lampton Worm.
