Visit to Leon

The Comenuis project has now begun its second year, with staff meeting in Spain to discuss the next stage. Whilst visiting the beautiful city of Leon Mrs Messenger and Mrs Wearmouth took in the wonderful stained glass windows of Leon Cathedral. It was a sight to behold!
They watched lessons within the school, learned a Spanish dance (Mrs Wearmouth was excellent at this - or so she thinks!) and experienced traditional Spanish food.

We will be taking pupils to Leon in March as part of the project to develop their own Spanish experiences.

Visit to Poland

Sixteen pupils from Years 5 & 6 spent 4 days near Krakow, along with pupils from Hungary & Poland. They visited the famous Salt Mines and Krakow city. Despite mislaying the passports for 10 minutes the trip was a fantastic success. A great time was had by all in Poland and we are looking foward to visiting Hungary and Spain next year!

This was part of the Comenius project.

Durham Cathedral Visit

Bowling at Durham was a fun packed morning for the pupils involved with Comenius. The Cathedral was a real 'wow factor' for our visitors as they had never seen a church so big that was built so long ago. They also got to see where parts of the Harry Potter film was shot. Awe inspiring.

Visit to York

The Comenuis children had a fantastic day out at York. They visited the Jovik Viking Centre and then took part in a 'dig' finding artefacts buried in the ground. The pupil from Hungary and Poland were really impressed with the day out having never experienced a museum quite like it!

Visit to Gateshead Civic Centre and Bill Quay Farm

Pupils from Poland and Hungary had the opportunity to meet the Mayor when they visited Gateshead Civic Centre. After meeting the Mayor the children met up with Bill Quay pupils and all set off for a visit to Bill Quay farm where they all took part in a pottery workshop to create Piggy Banks. They were able to get to know each other whilst creating lovely clay pigs and then looked around the farm and saw the piglets with had just been born that morning. So cute!
