Minsteracres Visit

There will be lots of tired Year 5 children tonight after spending a fab day exploring the grounds of Minsteracres!  We met Andrew Pennington, who told us all about his job as an environmental consultant, and then set off to explore the grounds with him. We made some fantastic new discoveries, such as the fact that Redwood trees have soft, almost spongy bark (some of us tested this thoroughly!) to help the trees survive forest fires.  We also learned about how Andrew is removing the non-native trees and replacing them with native species, and got some insider tips on how to cut down trees.
