European Day of Languages 2025
On Friday 26th September, our whole school celebrated the European Day of Languages with a French Culture Day.
All pupils were invited to come into school wearing either the colours of the French flag or a costume linked to France in some way. We had some wonderful Napoleons, Marie Antoinettes, mime artists and Three splendid Musketeers amongst our outfits! We enjoyed hearing some of the other languages which are spoken at home by some of our school pupils, and took part in different activities throughout the day. KS2 classes learnt a French rhyme about a mosquito, which they performed in our special assembly, and took part in a challenge to produce their own version of Monet's Sunflowers. KS1 classes listened to some pieces of music and learnt a French song, which they also performed in our assembly. All pupils and staff tried hard to use well-known French words and phrases throughout the day, and everyone tasted some lovely croissants. Needless to say, the croissants were the most popular part of the day!
