Bill Quay Primary School
What is it?
Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools so that they can support their disadvantaged pupils and close the attainment gap between them and their peers. Any children who have been registered for free school meals in the last 6 years; have been in care; or whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces are eligible for funding.
At Bill Quay Primary, we use our funding to develop staff professional knowledge and to fund teaching assistants who deliver 1:1 intervention and small group tuition. We have also appointed a Home School Liaison officer who supports vulnerable pupils and their families, as well as focusing primarily on attendance. Our funding also ensures that pupils eligible for pupil premium can attend our breakfast club free of charge and can take part in residential visits to Kingswood and Robinwood. Some of our pupils have also been offered free music tuition.
Because we have relatively small numbers of pupils in each cohort who are eligible for pupil premium funding, this makes analysing progress data difficult. Progress for all pupils is carefully tracked and those pupils who are underachieving will receive extra support.
